General anxiety or fear is usually generated by an unconscious response to an imagined scenario that may lead to harm. Heard of flight or flight? When a certain part of your brain receives a message that you are in danger, your mind and body get ready to defend yourself, or flee.
What causes these fearful imagined scenarios?
Mostly it is a result of past experiences, or an inability to deal with uncertainty in what may or may not happen. Your will learn:
1. to practice fast effective relaxation or anti-anxiety techniques.
2. to monitor your thoughts for negative or limiting thoughts and beliefs that generate feelings of feel and inadequacy.
3. to practice thought stopping/controlling/changing techniques to enable you to learn to take control of that inner voice.
4. Verity will train you in hypnosis and self-hypnosis and begin to build calm and confidence and a greater sense of control.
5. If required, we will create a clear hierarchy or list of the things you fear and under hypnosis we will systematically 'desensitise' you to those fears by having you imagine being in those situation and practicing deep relaxation as you rehearse those situations in your imagination. By repeatedly imagining yourself in those situations all the time becoming more relaxed we build a new automatic response of natural calm as opposed to the previous fear.
